Pay Range: $45.59 - $74.19 per hour

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for the integrative analysis of high throughput genomic data, and work with computational and laboratory-based investigators to build bioinformatics capabilities at Rush University. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
Required Job Qualifications:
•PhD degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., bioinformatics, microbiology, computational biology, biotechnology, molecular biology, genetics, or similar) OR Master's degree with 5 years bioinformatics experience and training OR 9 years of bioinformatics experience and training.
•Experience working with large -omics data sets, particularly nucleic acid data
•Fluent in R, Python, or similar.
•Willingness to teach others and learn new techniques.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
•Experience with analysis of single cell omics research / spatial omics research and/or experience with microbiome research, including 16S rRNA gene amplicon analysis, shotgun metagenome/metatranscriptome sequence analysis, host-microbe interaction analysis, whole genome sequence analysis, or genomic epidemiology experience
•Experience collaborating with other bioinformaticians to determine best approaches for data analysis, visualization, and interpretation
•Experience in applying for extramural funding
•Experience advising investigators on best practices on experimental design, sequencing approach, and data analysis
•Experience performing power analyses for grant proposals and papers / Significant quantitative training in statistics.
•Experience with public NCBI/NIH/JGI databases such as GDC, GEO, dbGaP, etc.
•Experience in network analysis, machine learning analysis/feature selection
•Experience with multi-omics analysis
•Experience with longitudinal omics analysis
•Experience working with cloud-based computing
•Experience working within a shared-resource environment (i.e., core facility)
•Teaching experience
•Supervisory experience
Job Responsibilities:
•Design, develop and execute computational research projects of high complexity.
•Develop a research portfolio, including applying for extramural research funding as co-I, co-PI, or PI
•Assist investigators with experimental design, sequencing approach, and data analysis for a broad range of research topics
•Analyze NGS datasets and multi-omics datasets
•Communicate analysis results and methods to technical and non-technical audiences.
•Evaluate and implement new emerging approaches for data analysis.
