Job Description

About Us

Myo Palate is a biotechnology company developing sustainable meat products by cultivating stem cells to produce meat without raising or slaughtering animals.

About the Role

We are looking for a Bioanalytical Scientist to join our team and lead analytical efforts focused on characterizing cell culture environments. This role is central to our development of robust, scalable systems for cultivated meat production.

You will design and execute experiments to quantify media metabolites and analyze biological systems using advanced instrumentation. This includes working with HPLC, mass spectrometry, and Raman spectroscopy. The role involves close collaboration with cell biology teams to support experiments in microbioreactors and bioreactors, as well as working alongside data scientists to build and refine chemometric models.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail oriented, and comfortable working across both analytical and biological domains. Strong programming skills such as Python or R are essential for processing complex datasets and contributing to model development.

Position: full-time, salaried

Preferred Start Date: June 2, 2025

Workplace: on-site

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Please attach a cover letter to the front of your CV prior to submitting through LinkedIn. Applications without a cover letter will be disregarded.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analytical experiments using HPLC, mass spectrometry, and Raman spectroscopy to quantify metabolites
  • Culture mammalian cells for analytical experiments and maintain consistent growth conditions
  • Support experiments in microbioreactors and benchtop bioreactors in collaboration with cell biology teams
  • Design and execute experiments that contribute to chemometric model development
  • Maintain accurate and detailed experimental records and lab documentation
  • Prepare and label common lab reagents and manage chemical inventory
  • Collaborate with data scientists on analysis of large datasets and chemometric modeling
  • Ensure compliance with SOPs, safety protocols, and good laboratory practices
  • Present findings in team meetings and contribute to internal method development
  • Assist with troubleshooting analytical workflows and instrumentation
  • Identify and implement process improvements for data quality and lab efficiency

Qualifications

Required

  • Master’s degree or higher in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, or a related discipline
  • Hands-on experience with HPLC, mass spectrometry, or Raman spectroscopy
  • Experience in constructing chemometric models and knowledge of chemometric analysis
  • Experience culturing mammalian cells
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills
  • Familiarity with scientific documentation and data integrity standards
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team
  • Comfortable working with large datasets and interfacing with computational tools
  • Self-motivated, with strong time management and problem-solving abilities

Preferred

  • Experience culturing stem cells or working with bioreactor systems
  • Programming proficiency in Python, R, or similar for data analysis
  • Experience in assay development, validation, or statistical modeling
  • Exposure to metabolite profiling, media analysis, or bioprocess monitoring

Myo Perks and Benefits

  • Comprehensive health benefits package. We want you to feel your best when working at Myo
  • Company wide and team based social events
  • Newly renovated downtown lab located in King West. Steps away from the life of Toronto
  • Work with a team of world class scientists and push the frontiers of science
